Stop SUVs from guzzling foreign oil.

In 2003, the United States imported a record 63 percent of its oil, and that is likely to go up. To reverse this trend, we should be creating cars and SUVs that consume less gas. Instead, as SUVs gain in popularity, they are consuming more oil, and the Bush administration is doing nothing to stop it.

We have a unique opportunity to tell the Bush administration to increase our energy independence. The National Highway Traffic Safety Agency (NHTSA) is accepting comments on Bush's proposal.
